News

The latest news from our recent club evenings and events or any other items of interest.

Out with old in with the new! Last Wednesday saw the election of a new president of the club: Carla Lloyd. Tony Renshaw retired at the end of his two year stint expressing his thanks to the committee for their hard work and support during that period.

The committee welcomed a new member Brian Eastwood, elected as Vice President. Other committee members were re-elected to their previous roles.

When asked how she saw the future of the club over the next two years Carla said in her welcome, that her aim was to build a club that continues to attract new blood to ensure our continued growth. She reminded members that they ARE the club and that the committee exist to be their voice. She encouraged to them to always tell her or the committee about any ideas, improvements, feedback or suggestions they have.

Tonight saw members bringing in prints for the first time in over 2 years for a monthly challenge.

We were treated to images of animals, rainbows, landscapes, people, cycle races,

aeroplanes, fairground rides and churches to name a few.

Members were invited to look at the prints and then vote on their first, second and

third print which came within the perimeters of 'Over the Fence'.

Prior to the review - a presentation!

Congratulations go to Richard Fulcher on achieving his CPAGB, his certificate was presented by Alan Stopher.

Votes were collated and prints were reviewed by Richard Fulcher and Barbara Sheldrake, who gave a concise and fair review of all the prints.

Then came the results of the votes which were as follows:

1 st Tony Renshaw with 23 points

2 nd Brian Eastwood with 20 points

Joint 3 rd George Fewster and Michael Hey with 18 points

Our Annual Competition started in earnest with the hand-in of prints by our members. This year 148 prints have been entered in 9 categories. Each one was checked in and given a number and then they were stacked according to category before being packaged up for eventual delivery to our two judges: Haydn Bartlett LSWPP LSINWP from Halifax and Steve Womack LRPS CPAGB EFIAP from Wakefield.

Once judged and feedback received during April and May the highest scoring prints in each category will be exhibited in a shop unit on the Piazza in Huddersfield. Our occupancy of the unit shown in the left of the picture, courtesy of Temporary Contemporary and Kirklees Council will be from 6th July to 14th August 2022.

In addition 156 Projected Digital Images in 7 categories have been submitted and once judged the best of these will be displayed at our exhibition on a HD television.

Members entries are now complete but the work has only just started for the competition and exhibition team.
