News

The latest news from our recent club evenings and events or any other items of interest.

Four images were selected by members of the club as being the best of the sixteen images submitted depicting masks in various guises.

Carla and Kevin Lloyd provided very useful and comprehensive feedback on the images, providing the all the authors with constructive hints and tips on how their images could be improved.

The top four images were: • 1st - Untitled by James Gibson • 2nd Masked Welder by Graham Sykes • 3rd equal Thorn by Carol Haigh and Masquerading As Fashion by Mike Hey

Their images are shown below:

Congratulations to the winners and thanks to all the authors who submitted images and to those who scored them.

This evening was a challenge for members in more ways than one!

We met in the town centre on a showery evening with 18 members braving the weather,

which had clear skies one minute and very heavy rain showers the next.

Members were given an envelope containing instructions and a colour card. The

challenge was to take an image which contained all or part of the given colour, to stay

within the inner ring round and all images to be taken on the night.

After members had identified and taken their two images or more, a quick retreat to one

of the local pubs found members enjoying a pint or two and company which we have

missed for so long.

It will be interesting to see all the images taken on the second part of this event in a few

weeks’ time.

On a fine, warm evening 24 members assembled to walk the canal through Slaithwaite and to take pictures. The turnout was no doubt boosted by the prospect of actual meeting friends for the first time in quite a while. A bonus was that three new members arrived to introduce themselves. The strong evening sunlight and deep shadows made for some tricky exposures and there was much muttering about HDR and the like. Later in the summer we’ll see some of the results. Two captures are attached – the first including some recognisable HPIC members and the second portraying a quiet evening stroll along a wooded section of the Huddersfield Narrow Canal.
