News

The latest news from our recent club evenings and events or any other items of interest.

This was our penultimate challenge of the year. Members submitted images on the theme of The Beach. Again, members had had the chance to view the images prior to voting and we saw some various takes on the set theme.

Images were reviewed by Richard Fulcher, George Fewster and with the help of James, when the gremlins struck.

The votes went as follows:

1st – Richard Fulcher – 33 points

2nd – David Simmons – 21 points

3rd – George Fewster – 18 points

This was a fun evening! Janey Lazenby came along to talk and demonstrate Bringing the Old Masters to Light. With the help of three volunteers, namely Tony Renshaw, Sheelagh Davidson and Clayton Manhertz, some stunning costumes provided by Janey, backdrop and lights, enabled members to take images alongside Janey.

After the break, Janey demonstrated a live edit which resulted in some stunning images.

A totally enjoyable evening had by all.

At Glenys’s request tonight’s meeting was held over Zoom.

Through her talk Glenys explained of how she uses the local environment, works with what she loves to shoot, being more creative and what equipment, you may need.

Glenys started off by asking the question, do you make images for yourself or do you make images you think other people want to see? Hardest thing in photography and imaging making is finding your own voice, and the importance of continuing development.

Glenys took us through different types of photography, lumen and cyanolumen printing in which she has created her own style and the types of equipment that she has collected over the years, the lenses that she likes to use and best places to buy the paper and film.

Members were so impressed with Glenys talk, that she will be coming to visit us next year in the summer to do a workshop. We are looking forward to that evening.
